MECHANICA / LEGAL

Privacy Policy.

Last updated: 1 November 2026

This notice explains how Mechanica uses personal information when you browse this website, contact us or submit a request for bespoke trading research.

1. Who is responsible for your information?

Mechanica is the trading name under which this website and its bespoke backtesting research services operate. The business operator determines how personal information submitted through Mechanica enquiries and client communications is used and is responsible for responding to data protection requests. To contact the operator about your personal information, email hello@mechanicatrading.com.

2. What we collect

When you use our research request form, we may collect your name, email address, phone number and trading idea or strategy description, along with other details you choose to provide. If you contact us by email, we receive the content of your message and your contact information.

Our hosting and security provider may also process technical data, such as IP address and browser details, to serve and protect the website.

3. Why we use your information and our lawful bases

We use enquiry information to understand your request, respond to you, arrange discussions, scope research projects, prepare proposals and manage related correspondence. We rely on steps requested before entering into a contract, or our legitimate interests in communicating with people who enquire about Mechanica, as appropriate.

If a project is agreed, we may also process information to perform that contract and comply with applicable record-keeping obligations. We do not add people to a marketing mailing list merely because they submit a research enquiry, and we do not sell personal information.

4. Service providers and international processing

Research enquiries are handled through Typeform; correspondence is handled using our business email service; and website delivery and security will be provided by Cloudflare when the site is published there. These providers process information as necessary to deliver their services.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Where required, relevant international-transfer safeguards apply. Contact us for details about the safeguards used for your information.

5. Website analytics and cookies

We may use Cloudflare Web Analytics to understand aggregate traffic and which pages visitors use. We do not use advertising pixels or create marketing profiles on this website. The website itself does not collect research submissions directly; submitting a request opens Typeform, which has its own privacy and cookie information.

If we introduce cookies or other tracking that legally require consent, we will update this notice and implement consent controls where required.

6. How long we keep information

We aim to retain enquiries that do not become client projects for up to 12 months after the last meaningful contact, unless we need to keep them longer for a specific lawful reason. Where a project proceeds, relevant correspondence and records may be retained for contractual, accounting or legal obligations. We delete or anonymise information when it is no longer needed.

7. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, UK data-protection law may give you the right to request access to your information, correction, erasure, restriction, data portability or to object to certain processing. You can object to processing based on legitimate interests by contacting us at hello@mechanicatrading.com.

If you have concerns, you can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.

8. Changes

We may update this policy to reflect changes in our services or providers. The latest version will be published here with an updated date.
